CDC Group among the first to take advantage of Obelisk’s paralegal services

Legal support since 2010

Case study: CDC Group among the first to take advantage of Obelisk’s paralegal services

• UK’s development finance institution
• Invests up to £2 billion every year in green infrastructure, technology and other sectors that need our capital the most
• Qualified lawyers and paralegals
• Projects, ad hoc, teams

Obelisk has been able to support the expanding legal team at CDC Group (now British International Investment) and played a role in building a more sustainable future for all.

Whilst the organisation has been growing rapidly, so has the workload, and they found its legal team in need of flexible resources to help manage periods of high demand for general commercial advice and allow the internal team to focus on its core role of investment support.

Obelisk was able to place highly-skilled senior commercial lawyers to pick up the extra work and help the team as and when they need it.

Based on a detailed understanding of the work the CDC team needed help with, Obelisk set up a small team of consultant lawyers to support a variety of general commercial contract work. When there is a requirement for advice from another practice area, Obelisk adds extra consultants to the team as needed. They also took advantage of our paralegal service line, building a mixed ability building a mixed ability team that responded perfectly to their needs in the most efficient, cost effective way.

Summary: Providing commercial and specialist legal support an as-needed, flexible working arrangement to meet the company’s peaks in workflow
