For In-House Legal Teams FAQs

How does flexible legal support work for in-house teams?

We know that legal work has peaks and troughs, and that in-house legal teams are often overloaded, so we’ve built a network of legal experts that can act as an extension of your in-house teams within a matter of days – or even hours.By choosing flexible legal support from Obelisk Support you can focus on the work that matters. Our service takes on the complete administrative burden; we handle all onboarding, from tailored inductions and circulating relevant playbooks to IT liaison and ongoing project management on more complex, larger engagements to ensure that your work is delivered to the highest standard and according to agreed Service Level Agreements.

Do you consider Obelisk Support a law firm?

Obelisk Support is a valuable resource for businesses that are looking for flexible and cost-effective legal services. However, it is important to understand that Obelisk Support is not a law firm, and it not regulated by the SRA (Solicitors Regulatory Authority).

What type of legal services do you provide to in-house legal teams?

Our services for in-house teams include: One-Off Projects: Our consultants can provide advice or drafting across a range of commercial areas, such as GDPR and related policies, commercial contracts, customer/supplier litigation, employment law queries, IP protection and property matters. Cover for Holiday, Parental or Sick Leave: If you’re temporarily short-staffed, we can deliver work through our virtual team to ensure you’re covered. We can also arrange cover on-site from one of our expert lawyers. Major Transactions Support: When you need extra expertise on a deal, our consultants can be an extension to your team. Virtual Legal Team: Access to a virtual legal team – when your business is growing, or going through change, we can put together a team with the legal skills you need, available for an agreed number of hours each month. Document Automation: Our consultants can draft and review your contracts, prepare associated questionnaires and work with your vendor’s technical team to get automated documents up and running across your business. Multilingual Projects: We have lawyers who can work in 27 languages, covering you for document review, translation, proof-reading and legal support.

Can I contact you about one-off projects and short-term cover?

Yes! We understand that sometimes you have an urgent need for a specific piece of legal work to be delivered and we have the flexibility to turn that around as well as to provide on-going services or connect you with a consultant for a longer-term assignment. To help you remain agile, there is no minimum commitment whether you need someone for a day or to cover long-term illness or parental leave. Our lawyers and paralegals can work on an hourly or daily basis and appreciate the flexibility to work on ad hoc, smaller projects which they can deliver to a high standard around other personal commitments.

Do Obelisk Support lawyers and paralegals only work remotely?

No! Whilst many of our freelance lawyers and paralegals work remotely, we can also match you with legal consultants who work in your offices or are happy to split their time working between your offices and home.

Does Obelisk Support offer flexible legal support outside London?

Yes! Our legal consultants and in-house paralegals are based across the United Kingdom including: Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Dublin, Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield

How experienced are the legal consultants at Obelisk Support?

Only lawyers and paralegals who have experience from both a top law firm and working in-house are eligible to join our community, meaning your services are delivered by people with the commercial savvy to deliver quality work at pace. Our talent pool consists of legal consultants who have trained at all five Magic Circle law firms (Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters, and Slaughter and May) and all five Silver Circle law firms (Ashurst, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, Herbert Smith Freehills, Macfarlanes, and Travers Smith), as well as other top city law firms (CMS, DLA Piper, Hogan Lovells, Eversheds Sutherland, and Norton Rose Fulbright to name a few).Through Obelisk Support, our legal consultants have worked at 35% of the FTSE100 organisations, at some of the Big Four accounting firms and hundreds of small, medium and large organisations - from scale-ups to multi-nationals.
