Can I work flexibly as a legal consultant or paralegal??

Do I need to bring my own clients?

We don’t ask you to bring clients to us or do your own business development, so you can focus on the work that you enjoy.

What is IR35 for flexible legal workers?

The new IR35 regulations came into effect from the 6th April 2021. These mean that if you work through a personal service company (PSC), you’ll need a Status Determination Statement (SDS) for every engagement with medium-sized and large clients in the private sector and, if work is deemed to fall inside IR35, you’ll need to pay tax at source via an umbrella company. This is the same for clients in the public sector. You are welcome to work with your choice of umbrella partner, as long as they are FCSA-accredited.

Do I need Professional Indemnity Insurance when in role?

As an Obelisk Support legal consultant you are self-employed and work with us on a freelance basis. If you do not have a policy of your own, you will be covered under our indemnity policy.

How many hours can I work with Obelisk Support?

We offer our lawyers as many or few hours’ work as they are looking for. You are in control of when and where you work.

How does working with Obelisk Support work?

Once you’re set up, we’ll start to match you with projects. Our proprietary software allows us to find the best fit for your skills. When we find the right match, we’ll approach you with potential projects and set up your first work with us.
