IT Dos and Donts

Consultant Help Docs

Tell us about time off

Once you are selected for a project  through Obelisk, the next steps for you would be to deliver the work. This may involve you working on the client’s IT systems or the ones provided to you by Obelisk. We have a few helpful Do’s & Don’ts when it comes to using technology.

Do’s :

  • Do use your Obelisk Support email for all correspondence with our clients, where provided.
  • Do make sure your equipment is protected with the latest anti-virus and malware protection software.
  • Do use your Obelisk IT set up to complete and store our client work.
  • Do ensure when necessary that you save your work in the designated folders provided.
  • Do ensure you take care when dealing with confidential documents.
  • Do make sure you are familiar with all IT policies you are asked to comply with by our clients and adhere to best practices.
  • Do report any suspicious emails or log in attempts to the relevant IT team.
  • Do be prepared to take reasonable care of any IT equipment you are provided with.
  • Do make arrangements to return any equipment issued either by Obelisk or our client at the end of an engagement.  Remember that some of our clients have stringent security processes and will require this to be returned on your last day of work in person.
  • Do be proactive about needing IT training if you are unfamiliar with a piece of software.
  • Do ask the Obelisk team for support.

Don’ts:

  • Don’t share your personal email address and phone number. This includes copying your personal email address in client correspondence or forwarding emails regarding client work to your personal email address.
  • Don’t share your login credentials for your Obelisk IT set up with any third parties.
  • Don’t store work locally on your devices or on a removable disk (e.g. USB device).
  • Don’t disclose files with third parties outside of the service agreement with Obelisk and our client.
  • Don’t forward, click on any links or respond to any suspicious emails.
