Dana Denis-Smith OBE becomes Vice President of the Law Society of England and Wales
London, UK — 14 October 2026
Obelisk Support is proud to announce that its Founder and CEO, Dana Denis-Smith OBE, has today become Vice President of the Law Society of England and Wales. Dana will become President in October 2027, leading the profession’s representative body through to October 2028.
Dana was elected in May 2025 and takes up the role after a year as Deputy Vice President, during which she has focused on the future shape of the profession, from flexible careers and access to justice to the responsible use of artificial intelligence in legal services.
Her path into law was not a traditional one. A former journalist and the first in her family to enter the law, Dana founded Obelisk Support in 2010 as the UK’s first flexible legal services company, built on the belief that no one should have to choose between family and work. Today Obelisk is a B Corp certified, multi-award winning business supporting clients with a community of more than 2,000 lawyers and paralegals.
Becoming Vice President of the Law Society is a privilege, and a responsibility I take seriously. I came into this profession as an outsider, the first in my family to study law, and I have spent my career trying to open doors for people who were told the door was closed. Our profession is going through its biggest change in a generation. Technology, new ways of working and rising pressure on access to justice are reshaping what it means to be a solicitor. I want to make sure every solicitor, whatever their background, firm size or stage of career, has a voice in that change and a fair chance to thrive in it. The law belongs to the people it serves, and so must its future.
Dana’s election builds on her long-standing work to advance women in law. Alongside leading Obelisk, she founded the First 100 Years campaign, now Next 100 Years, which celebrates the history, achievements and future of women in the legal profession. She also founded EQUA, an independent institute exploring AI, legal services and access to justice. She was awarded an OBE in the 2025 New Year Honours for services to gender equality in the legal profession.
Most recently, Dana was named by TechRound as one of its Top 10 Women in Legaltech 2026.
