Our client is seeking a commercially minded solicitor to join on an initial six-month contract, working three days per week. The role will combine day-to-day commercial property and landlord and tenant work with support on a number of existing disputes and corporate matters.The role is largely remote. The client would like the consultant to spend a day or two at their Leicester offices at the start of the assignment to meet the team and visit some of the sites, so they get a clear picture of the portfolio they will be working on. Some on-the-ground work may be required from time to time.
You will:
- Handle day-to-day commercial property and landlord and tenant matters
- Support existing commercial litigation matters
- Support partnership and trust disputes, including identifying whether certain assets are held within trusts
- Assist on corporate valuation matters
- Coordinate with external solicitors and counsel, managing instructions and keeping matters moving
Skill Requirements
- Qualified solicitor, ideally 2+ PQE (this is a floor rather than a ceiling, and a more experienced solicitor wanting three days a week as part of a portfolio career could suit well, especially given the breadth (property, litigation, trusts, valuations))
- Strong commercial litigation experience
- Some exposure to commercial property and landlord and tenant work
- Experience of, or confidence handling, partnership, trust or valuation-related disputes
- Comfortable instructing and coordinating external solicitors and counsel
- Confident and robust in approach, with a hands-on attitude and willingness to think creatively
- Able to work independently and remotely, with availability to attend Leicester at the start of the assignment and occasionally thereafter
