Can you describe your experience of working through Obelisk?

My experience with Obelisk has been a great one thus far. I’m fortunate to be placed on an assignment in an organisation that I enjoy with great exposure to a variety of work that is providing me with relevant skills needed to help me progress in my legal career.

What makes your expertise unique?

I have been fortunate enough to have gained relevant experience in both public and private sectors. As a result, it’s provided me with the right balance of transferable skills needed to settle in any environment that I am placed in.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of flexible working as a lawyer?

Flexible working is great as it provides you with more opportunities to work on your passions outside of work.

What’s the most challenging?

The most challenging part of flexible working I would say is cultivating the discipline and boundaries that you have to create for yourself. It is so tempting to reply to a work email or message outside of work hours because you can and essentially your ‘office’ is in your home. However, as tempting as it is, it’s important to remember to rest and create some downtime for yourself.

What are your proudest professional and personal achievements so far?

Being multifaceted and able to balance and enjoy all of my passions.

How do you find the right work/life balance?

It all boils down to good time management, being able to manage your time effectively and being organised will ensure that you have enough time for everything.

What are your words of advice to other legal consultants?

I would say go for it, try something new, give it a go the opportunities are endless and there is so much to experience.

How do you start and end your day?

I believe that a great morning routine will set you out for a great start to your day and ultimately help you win the day. I start my day with personal/ prayer time. I then listen to a podcast and go to the gym (depending on what day of the week it is and what time my morning calls start). My day ends again with personal time, where I either read a book to unwind or watch a show on Netflix.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

It would definitely be being able to fly. I like the idea of being able to get to my destination quickly and to be anywhere in a matter of seconds.
